Royal Flush: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
The Royal Flush is an Ace high straight flush. There are four possibilities hearts, clubs, diamonds or spades each are equally ranked. Chances are you'll have to play hundreds of holdem games before you see one of these, if ever! Straight Flush: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A Sequence of cards of the same suit. If two people have straight flushes, the person with the highest card wins. Again, many rounds would have to be played before you see one of these. Four of a Kind: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Four of a kind or quads contains four cards of any rank and another unrelated card. The higher the rank, the better the hand (eg 4 Kings would beat 4 Jacks). Full House: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Three cards of one rank and two of another constitutes a full house. The hand above may be referred to as 'threes full of eights' The higher the rank of the threes the better the hand. Flush: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Any five cards of the same suit make a flush. If there are more than one flush at showdown the winner is determined by highest card rank, ie Ace high flush is better than King high flush. Straight: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Five cards of any suit that run in sequence constitute the straight. If two players hold a straight then the highest straight is the winner otherwise it is a tie. Three of a kind: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Two unrelated cards plus three of the same rank constitures the three of a kind hand. The highest ranking three cards determines the winner. Two pair: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Two cards of one rank, two of another and one unrelated card make up the two pair hand. If two players have two pair, the holder of the highest ranking pair is the winner, but if each player has the same high pair, then the rank of hte second pair decides the winner. If both hold the same two pairs the unrelated card's rank determines the winner. One pair ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A one pair hand is made up of two cards of the same rank and three other unrelated cards. If two players hold the same card then the highest side card or 'kicker' determines the winner. No pair: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When we have no pair or five cards completely unrelated, then the highest card determines who has the winning hand. If the highest five cards are all community cards, then the pot is split between the players. |
