Omaha high low terminologyThe basic terminology used in omaha high low is similar to the terminology used in texas holdem with a few additions. Here's a list of the basic omaha terms: Quartered: When you share half the pot with a draw on the low pot and someone else wins the high pot. ie high pot gets 50%, you and same player or another player get 25% each with a tie on the low pot. Getting quartered is not a situation you want to find yourself in with omaha high low as you may have contributed 1/3 of the pots chips but only get 1/4 back. Suited: When two or more of your hole cards are the same suit. Double suited: When two of your hole cards are one suit and the other two another. This offers twice the chance of getting a flush on the high hand. The Wheel: (A, 2, 3, 4, 5) With this hand it is possible to win both the low hand and the high hand as a straight or straight flush Scoop: When you win both high and low hands you are said to scoop the pot. The nuts: The best hand (unbeatable). PLO: Pot limit omaha high PLO8 Pot limit omaha high low Flop: First three community or board cards Turn: Forth community card River: Last community card. Many omaha high low hands are made on the river. High cards: Ace down through to 10 Middle cards: 7 8 and 9 Low cards: Ace up to 6 |
